MEDICAL SCAN

CT scan

CT scan, is a medical examination in radiology which uses X-rays. These rays are directed through the part of the body to be examined, from various angles.

“This examination has the advantage of providing very accurate information about the organs being investigated. It is suited to those who suffer from claustrophobia.

“Radiologie de la Côte has a latest-generation, low-radiation machine, known as low dose. The images are computer processed to reconstitute all sections of the body and even, in some cases, 3-dimensional images for a given organ.”

Leading expertise

Scans expose individuals to a dose of X-ray greater than standard radiography. But the risks associated with this radiation are very low. Radiologie de la Côte has a latest-generation, low-radiation machine, known as low dose.

It has a coil, inside which is found the X-ray tube, which takes images in thin sections. The X-ray tube rotates around a patient and the images are provided using a powerful digital system. In most cases, an iodine-based contrast product is used to enhance quality.

Radiologie de la Côte performs all examinations and procedures which require the use of scans and provides its leading expertise, particularly for biopsies and CT-guided drainage. Dental scans are part of the examinations performed at our imaging centre. They enable bone mass in the jaw to be viewed in the case of implants. The radiology institute also performs virtual colonoscopy. This very quick technique is less invasive than conventional colonoscopy. It can be done without sedation. Also non-invasive is the angio-CT. This examination optimally shows arteries.
